Decoding the Climax of ‘Fast X’ | A Profound Exploration of Fear and its Impact on the Family https://citiymovies.com/archives/2588/news/ Sat, 27 May 2023 06:23:43 +0000 https://citiymovies.com/?p=2588

Fast X: An Action-Packed Conclusion to the ‘Fast and Furious Saga

Fast X delivers an action-packed conclusion to the ‘Fast and Furious’ saga, with an epic ending and twist that has shocking implications for the franchise. The film is filled with death-defying stunts, humor, and Vin Diesel’s star power, keeping longtime fans excited and invested. While it sets up events to conclude this chapter of the family saga, it also teases what’s to come in the next two installments

Dom’s Family Faces Threats from a Sadistic Villain: Dante Reyes

Dom finds himself in a relatively stable place, enjoying time with his wife Letty, and their son Brian Marcos. However, their tranquility is shattered when the criminal mastermind Dante Reyes targets Dom’s family and friends, particularly tormenting Brian. Dom must take down Reyes and protect his loved ones, but Reyes proves to be an unpredictable and sadistic villain unlike any before. The film wraps up with Dom facing the challenge of rescuing Brian and ensuring his family’s safety.

Dante’s Evil Plan Unveiled: Division and Destruction of Toretto’s Family

Dante’s evil plan is revealed, which involves dividing and destroying each member of Toretto’s family. He gains an army through Cipher and plans to stage a bombing at the Vatican. Dom discovers the deceit and heads to Rome with Letty to warn their friends. Mia is left to protect Brian, but their home is attacked, leading to Jakob rescuing Brian and embarking on a journey to find Dom’s safe house. The team manages to prevent civilian casualties but becomes the world’s most wanted criminals. Tess, the daughter of Mr. Nobody, joins Dom’s side as she suspects her father’s disappearance is part of Dante’s plot. However, Letty is abducted by government agents before Tess can save her.

Rescues, Alliances, and Surprising Cameos: Twists and Turns in Fast X

As Dom searches for Brian and Jakob, Han, Tej, Roman, and Ramsey seek help from an internet hacker to recover their stolen bank accounts. They also encounter Shaw, who assists them but departs on his own mission after his mother is kidnapped. Meanwhile, Letty finds herself imprisoned with Cipher, eventually forming an unlikely alliance to escape and seek revenge on Dante. The film introduces a surprising cameo by Gal Gadot’s Gisele Yashar, aiding in their escape by submarine.

Climactic Showdown and Sacrifices: Dom’s Mission to Rescue Brian

The climax of Fast X takes a dramatic turn as Dom’s mission to rescue Brian is complicated by the revelation that Aimes, the head of the “Nobody” program, is Dante’s secret ally. Dom finds himself in a chase to save Brian, with Dante briefly abducting him from Jakob’s car. After a tense rescue, Jakob sacrifices himself to eliminate Dante’s forces. Dom and Jakob narrowly escape, but it’s clear that Dante will continue his quest in the next two films.

A Shocking Mid-Credits Teaser: Hobbs Returns to the Franchise

The film’s biggest surprise occurs in a mid-credits scene, where it is revealed that Hobbs, played by Dwayne Johnson, is returning to the franchise. Hobbs, branded as a criminal, has been tracking down his own targets and discovers one of Dante’s surveillance networks. This cameo is particularly shocking due to the infamous feud between Johnson and Diesel, adding intrigue to the future of the franchise and Hobbs’ role in protecting his loved ones.

The Flash Seasons | Ranked From Worst to Best https://citiymovies.com/archives/2583/news/ Sat, 27 May 2023 05:47:57 +0000 https://citiymovies.com/?p=2583

A Retrospective on “The Flash”: Analyzing Seasons and Characters in the Arrowverse

“The Flash” is a TV series that originated from the success of “Arrow” and expanded the “Arrowverse” on The CW network. The show follows Barry Allen, a crime-scene investigator who gains super speed after a laboratory accident. With the help of his team, including Caitlin Snow, Cisco Ramon, Harrison Wells, Joe West, and Iris West, Barry fights crime in Central City. “The Flash” has had a successful eight-season run, with a mix of thrilling action, humor, and emotional moments. As the series concludes with its ninth and final season, this retrospective explores each season and the beloved characters that made the show a fan favorite.

Season 7

Evaluating Season 7 of “The Flash”: Challenges, Storytelling, and Bright Spots

Season 7 of “The Flash” faced significant challenges due to COVID-related production issues and the departure of the main stars, resulting in a season considered the series’ lowest point. The storytelling became muddled, and the resolution of the Mirror-verse arc, although promising, quickly lost its impact. The introduction of the “Forces” concept, portrayed as mystical god-like children of Barry and Iris, felt strange and did not fully come together.

The Godspeed arc, long anticipated since Season 5, failed to deliver anything groundbreaking. Departures of characters like Cisco and Wells, along with the underutilization of Joe, added to the season’s drawbacks. However, there were some bright spots, including Allegra and Chester’s expanded roles, the introduction of Bart Allen/Impulse, and the development of Killer Frost as a separate character. Despite the challenges, the future appears more promising for the series.

Season 9

Reflecting on Season 9 of “The Flash”: Legacy, Mixed Bag, and a Strong Finish

Season 9 of “The Flash,” serving as the concluding chapter of the Arrowverse, focused on themes of legacy and the future. While the season had its ups and downs, it marked an improvement from the previous season. The exploration of Barry and Iris’s conflict between a predetermined future and living in the present was a strong element.

The reintroduction of the multiverse, tied to an impactful guest appearance by Oliver Queen, added depth and excitement to the final arc titled “A New World.” The four-part finale showcased powerful drama and standout performances, particularly by Grant Gustin. However, the season suffered from a slow start, with the main storyline not receiving enough development until later episodes. The abbreviated episode count of 13 also limited character arcs for Chester, Allegra, and Cecile. The new version of Caitlin as Khione lacked integration into the overall narrative. Nevertheless, Season 9 ended on a high note, providing a fitting farewell and a promising future for the beloved characters in Central City.

Season 8

Assessing Season 8 of “The Flash”: Creative Resurgence and Character Challenges

Season 8 of “The Flash” aimed to rejuvenate the series after a lackluster Season 6 and disappointing Season 7. While the season’s attempts to shake things up were not always successful, it ventured into creative and familiar directions that allowed for reflection on the characters’ shared history. The season commenced with an engaging self-contained crossover event, “Armageddon,” featuring various characters from the Arrowverse. The return of Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash injected unpredictability into the storyline, while Caitlin and Killer Frost took center stage in the fight against Deathstorm. The Forces also made a more interesting impact, contributing to significant storylines.

However, Season 8 faced notable character challenges. Iris had limited involvement, mainly being in peril due to her time sickness, resulting in her absence for multiple episodes. Joe, after retiring from the police, remained on the sidelines throughout the season, while Cecile felt shoehorned into Team Flash’s missions.

Despite these shortcomings, Season 8 proved to be an entertaining and reassuring chapter for “The Flash,” demonstrating that the series still has life and potential for further development.

Season 6

Evaluating Season 6 of “The Flash”: Divided Storylines and Missed Opportunities

Season 6 of “The Flash” faced a division in terms of storyline quality and scope, resulting in a lower ranking on this list despite a strong start. The first half of the season built up to the highly anticipated Crisis on Infinite Earths event, with Barry facing his impending death and contending with the formidable villain Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork.

These episodes carried emotional weight and incorporated thrilling horror elements. However, after the Crisis event, the series failed to shift the status quo significantly, which was disappointing considering the potential for substantial changes. While other Arrowverse shows were greatly affected by the Crisis fallout, “The Flash” continued into the Mirror-verse arc, which felt underwhelming compared to the preceding storyline. Season 6 appeared hesitant to take significant risks and fell short of its past successes and storytelling standards

Season 5

Exploring Season 5 of “The Flash”: A Balanced Blend of Storylines

Season 5 of “The Flash” takes a somewhat safer approach to its central story compared to the previous season but executes it well. The presence of Nora alters the timeline, leading to encounters with the serial killer Cicada and a compelling exploration of the new family dynamic between Barry, Iris, and Nora. The season strikes a great balance between its serious main story and the lighter villains of the week, while also introducing Sherloque Wells, a French detective who aids in the investigation.

The creation of a metahuman cure and its impact on Team Flash and the Central City Police Department adds depth to the narrative. With some adjustments, Season 5 could have served as a satisfying series finale, featuring significant character moments and teasing Central City’s future. However, the anticipation of the Crisis event prevented it from fully concluding the series on a high note. Overall, Season 5 presents engaging storylines and a touch of enjoyable French-themed quirkiness.

Season 4

Exploring Season 4 of “The Flash”: Transition and New Challenges

Season 4 of “The Flash” marks a significant transition for the series as the team confronts their first non-speedster villain, Clifford DeVoe. Amidst DeVoe’s plot to reboot minds with dark matter, the characters face personal milestones and growth.

Barry and Iris get married, Joe and Cecile prepare for their daughter’s arrival, and the team expands with the introduction of Ralph Dibny as the Elongated Man. Caitlin’s journey toward recovery and Cisco’s development as Vibe adds depth to the narrative. However, the season has its downsides, including a lighter tone that sometimes feels forced and gimmicky episodes. The pacing occasionally suffers due to DeVoe’s convoluted plan and a storyline involving Barry’s wrongful imprisonment. Despite these flaws, Season 4 still offers engaging moments and teases the introduction of Nora West-Allen, Barry and Iris’s daughter from the future.

Season 3

Exploring Season 4 of “The Flash”: Transition and New Challenges

Season 4 of “The Flash” marks a significant transition for the series as the team confronts their first non-speedster villain, Clifford DeVoe. Season 2

Season 2 of “The Flash”: Exploring the Multiverse

Season 2 of “The Flash” takes Team Flash on a journey into the multiverse, introducing new allies and enemies from different Earths. The main antagonist, Zoom, poses a threat to all metahumans with super-speed abilities, seeking to absorb their powers for his own gain. The season explores the concept of doppelgängers as the team encounters characters like Harry Wells and Jay Garrick from alternate Earths.

Additionally, the season delves into the complex family history of Joe and Iris, introducing Joe’s son Wally West and exploring their strained relationships. Barry’s love life also takes center stage as he navigates his feelings for Iris while starting a new relationship with Patty Spivot. Despite not reaching the same heights as Season 1, Season 2 expands the series’ scope, adds depth to the main characters’ backstories, and delivers a mix of drama, action, and romance. Standout episodes include “Welcome To Earth-2/Escape From Earth 2” and “The Runaway Dinosaur.”

Season 1

Season 1 of “The Flash”: A Stellar Debut

Season 1 of “The Flash” sets the bar high with its exceptional debut. Unlike many other first seasons, this show starts off strong, delivering captivating storylines, engaging characters, and impressive visual effects. The chemistry among the ensemble cast, including Barry, Caitlin, Cisco, and Harrison Wells, is a joy to watch.

The season introduces the menacing and multi-layered villain, Reverse-Flash, portrayed brilliantly by Tom Cavanagh. The backstory tied to Barry’s mother’s death adds depth to the conflict. The season also features a stellar recurring cast and lays the groundwork for future Legends of Tomorrow characters. With a well-conceived origin story, well-developed characters, and thrilling superhero action, Season 1 of “The Flash” is a memorable and nearly flawless beginning to the series. Standout episodes include “Fast Enough” and “Out of Time.”

Early life

Dwayne Douglas Johnson, known as The Rock, was born on May 2, 1972, in Hayward, California. His parents are Ata Johnson and former professional wrestler Rocky Johnson. Johnson had a diverse upbringing, spending time in New Zealand before returning to the United States. His father and Tony Atlas made history as the first black tag team champions in WWE. Johnson attended various schools, including Montclaire Elementary School, Shepherd Glen Elementary School, Hamden Middle School, President William McKinley High School, Glencliff High School, McGavock High School, and Freedom High School, where he graduated in 1990. Despite facing personal challenges and brushes with the law during his teenage years, Johnson’s high school football experience played a transformative role in his life. He excelled as a defensive tackle and caught the attention of college football recruiters.

Recognized as one of the top high school defensive tackles in the country, Johnson accepted a full athletic scholarship to the University of Miami, renowned for its successful football program. This marked the beginning of his journey to becoming a professional wrestler and eventually transitioning into a successful career as an actor and film producer.

Overall, Johnson’s upbringing, family background, and high school sports achievements laid the foundation for his future success in the entertainment industry.

Football career

Dwayne Johnson’s college career took place at the University of Miami, where he played as a defensive tackle for the Miami Hurricanes football team. In 1991, during his freshman year, he was part of the team that won the national championship. Despite being behind talented players like Warren Sapp on the depth chart, Johnson played backup roles throughout his four years at the university.

In 1995, Johnson graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of General Studies, having dual majors in criminology and physiology. During his time in college, he also became known for his public speaking engagements, where he shared his personal struggles and encouraged others to stay in school and avoid drug use.

Following his graduation, Johnson signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. He transitioned from defensive tackle to the linebacker position but was eventually cut from the team after two months into the 1995 season.

Overall, Johnson’s college football career at the University of Miami provided him with valuable experiences and opportunities, both on and off the field.

Professional wrestling career

Early Career (1996)

After his release from the Calgary Stampeders, Dwayne Johnson embarked on his professional wrestling career in 1996. He was given tryout matches with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) by veteran wrestler Pat Patterson. Initially using his real name, Johnson secured a victory over The Brooklyn Brawler at a house show on March 10, 1996. However, he also experienced losses against Chris Candido and Owen Hart.

In the summer of 1996, Johnson competed in Jerry Lawler’s United States Wrestling Association (USWA) under the ring name Flex Kavana. During his time in the USWA, he achieved success by winning the USWA tag team championship twice alongside his partner Bart Sawyer. Following his impressive performances, Johnson was offered a contract with the WWF.

To further hone his skills, Johnson received additional training from Tom Prichard, as well as alongside wrestlers Achim Albrecht and Mark Henry. This training would prove instrumental in shaping Johnson’s future as a professional wrestler in the WWF

World Wrestling Federation / World Wrestling Entertainment

Debut; Intercontinental Champion (1996–1997)

Dwayne Johnson made his debut in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) under the ring name Rocky Maivia, paying tribute to his father and grandfather’s wrestling personas. Although initially hesitant about the name, he was convinced by Vince McMahon and Jim Ross. Marketed as the WWF’s first third-generation wrestler, Maivia was pushed heavily despite his limited experience in the ring.

Maivia’s debut took place on November 4, 1996, as a member of Marc Mero’s entourage on Monday Night Raw. He achieved his first victory at Survivor Series on November 17, 1996, becoming the sole survivor in an eight-man elimination tag match. Maivia went on to win the Intercontinental Championship from Hunter Hearst Helmsley on February 13, 1997, and successfully defended the title against Helmsley at In Your House 13: Final Four.

His first WrestleMania match occurred on March 23, 1997, where he successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against The Sultan. However, WWF fans started to reject Maivia’s character and his push from the company. Despite defeating Bret Hart in a title defense, the audience grew increasingly hostile towards Maivia, chanting derogatory remarks during his matches.

After losing the Intercontinental Championship to Owen Hart on April 28, 1997, Maivia suffered a legitimate knee injury during a match against Mankind in June 1997. He underwent several months of recovery to heal from the injury.

Nation of Domination (1997–1998)

After returning from his knee injury in August 1997, Rocky Maivia turned heel and joined the Nation of Domination stable, alongside Faarooq, D’Lo Brown, and Kama. He abandoned the name Rocky Maivia and began referring to himself as The Rock, delivering insults and provocative promos directed at the audience, WWF performers, and interviewers.

In December 1997, The Rock faced Stone Cold Steve Austin at D-Generation X: In Your House for the Intercontinental Championship but was defeated. However, the following night on Raw Is War, Austin forfeited the title to The Rock under orders from Mr. McMahon, only to attack him with the Stone Cold Stunner. The Rock feuded with Austin and Ken Shamrock in early 1998, defending and retaining the Intercontinental title against Shamrock at the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania XIV, respectively.

The Rock went on to overthrow Faarooq as the leader of the Nation of Domination and successfully defended the Intercontinental title against him at Over the Edge: In Your House. The stable then referred to themselves as “The Nation” and feuded with Triple H and D-Generation X. The Rock emerged victorious in the quarter-final of the 1998 King of the Ring tournament against Triple H but lost to Ken Shamrock in the final. He continued his feud with Triple H, culminating in a two out of three falls match at Fully Loaded: In Your House, where The Rock controversially retained the Intercontinental title.

During the latter half of 1998, The Rock’s popularity grew significantly, leading to a face turn. He feuded with his former Nation members Mark Henry and D’Lo Brown, ultimately losing to Henry at Judgment Day: In Your House due to interference from Brown. This event effectively marked the breakup of the Nation of Domination.

The Rock’s career in the WWF from 1998 to 2002

In November 1998, he won his first WWF Championship by defeating Mankind in the finals of the “Deadly Game” tournament. He turned heel and aligned with Vince McMahon’s stable, The Corporation. He retained his title against Mankind in a rematch at Rock Bottom: In Your House. He lost the title to Mankind on an episode of Raw Is War, but regained it in an “I Quit” match at the Royal Rumble. He lost and regained the title again in subsequent matches against Mankind. He won his third title in a ladder match against Mankind and lost it to Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania XV. Despite being a heel, the Rock remained popular with the audience.

He had various feuds and matches, including forming the Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection with Mankind and winning the WWF Tag Team Championship multiple times. He also had feuds with Triple H, The Undertaker, and The Corporate Ministry. He participated in the Royal Rumble and had a rivalry with Big Show. He won the WCW Championship and had feuds with Rikishi and Kurt Angle. He participated in the Invasion storyline, aligned with Vince McMahon, and won the WCW Championship again. He was part of Team WWF in a winner takes all match against The Alliance at Survivor Series. He later won the WWE Undisputed Championship for a record-setting seventh time at Vengeance. He lost the title to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.

The Rock’s WWE Legacy: From Hollywood Rock to WrestleMania Triumphs and Hollywood Stardom

The Rock’s final feuds and departure from WWE took place in 2003-2004. He turned heel and adopted a new persona called Hollywood Rock. He had matches with Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Goldberg before leaving WWE to focus on his acting career.

The Rock made occasional appearances in WWE in 2004 and later returned in 2007 for special events. He had a feud with John Cena from 2011 to 2013, culminating in their match at WrestleMania XXVIII. The Rock won the WWE Championship but later lost it to Cena at WrestleMania 29. He made sporadic appearances in WWE from 2014 to 2019. The Rock also had mainstream crossover success, appearing in movies, hosting Saturday Night Live, and being recognized as an influential entertainer.

Dwayne Johnson, known as “The Rock,” made a successful transition from professional wrestling to the world of Hollywood. In the early 2000s, he began his acting career while still involved in wrestling, showcasing his versatility on television and appearing in films like The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King. Johnson’s commitment and work ethic paid off as he became one of the highest-paid and most accomplished actors in the industry.

His breakthrough came in 2011 with his portrayal of Luke Hobbs in Fast Five, which marked the start of his reputation for revitalizing film franchises. Johnson continued to make waves in the industry, starring in a series of successful films such as G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Pain & Gain, and the Fast & Furious series. Alongside his film projects, he also hosted and produced television shows like The Hero and Ballers.

Johnson’s star power continued to rise, with notable roles in movies like Hercules, Furious 7, Central Intelligence, and Moana. He consistently delivered box office hits and expanded his career into producing and developing multiple projects simultaneously. His involvement extended to collaborating with Disney on Jungle Cruise and Netflix on Red Notice.

In addition to his acting accomplishments, Johnson made headlines for his involvement in various ventures. He joined the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and made a surprise appearance as The Foundation in Fortnite Battle Royale. In 2023, he made a cameo appearance reprising his role as Luke Hobbs in Fast X.

Dwayne Johnson’s journey from wrestling to Hollywood stardom is a testament to his talent, charisma, and relentless pursuit of success in the entertainment industry.

Dwayne Johnson’s Ventures as a Producer

In 2012, Dwayne Johnson established his production company, Seven Bucks Productions. Since then, he has taken on numerous projects as a producer, showcasing his ability to bring compelling stories to the screen.

One of Johnson’s productions is the film adaptation of The Janson Directive, where he was initially set to star but will now solely serve as a producer. John Cena has been cast as the lead, with Akiva Goldsman working on the screenplay. Additionally, Johnson will produce and star in the Netflix exclusive film titled John Henry & The Statesmen, directed by Jake Kasdan, marking their third collaboration after Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level.

In 2019, Johnson produced and appeared as himself in Fighting with My Family, a comedy drama centered around Paige and her wrestling family. He continues to expand his producer roles, including The King, a film about the founder of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi, which will be directed by Robert Zemeckis.

Johnson is also attached to produce and star in a sequel to Big Trouble in Little China and is working on a project with Shane Black, reimagining Doc Savage. In 2021, he introduced his biographical comedy-drama series, Young Rock, on NBC.

In the realm of superhero films, Johnson’s involvement as Black Adam was announced in 2017. Although he did not appear in the movie Shazam!, he served as a producer, and his likeness was incorporated through special effects in flashback scenes.

Through his production company, Dwayne Johnson continues to contribute to the entertainment industry by bringing captivating stories to the screen and expanding his creative endeavors beyond acting.

Personal life

Dwayne Johnson’s Personal Life and Family Legacy

Dwayne Johnson’s personal life has seen significant milestones and family connections. In the early 1990s, he met Dany Garcia, his future wife and business partner. They married in 1997 and had a daughter named Simone in 2001. However, the couple announced their amicable separation in 2007, and their divorce was finalized in 2008.

Following his divorce, Johnson began dating Lauren Hashian, whom he met in 2006. They eventually tied the knot in 2019 in Hawaii. Together, they have two daughters named Jasmine and Tiana. The family resides in Los Angeles, with additional properties in Virginia and Florida.

Johnson’s heritage holds special significance to him. In 2004, he was bestowed the noble title of Seiuli by Malietoa Tanumafili II in recognition of his service to the Samoan people and his ancestral ties to Samoan chiefs. He also obtained Canadian citizenship in 2009 through his father’s birth.

Tattoos have been a part of Johnson’s personal expression. In 2003, he received a partial Samoan pe’a tattoo on his left side, and in 2017, he covered a small “Brahma bull” tattoo on his right arm with a larger half-sleeve tattoo featuring a bull’s skull.

Continuing the family legacy in the wrestling world, Johnson’s daughter Simone has followed in his footsteps. She began training at the WWE Performance Center in 2020, becoming the first fourth-generation WWE wrestler. In 2022, she announced her ring name as Ava Raine and has since been appearing on the NXT brand.

Beyond his successful career, Dwayne Johnson cherishes his family connections and cultural heritage, nurturing both his personal life and the future of his family’s involvement in the wrestling industry.

On Tuesday night, Ludacris opened for Janet Jackson at Budweiser Stage in Toronto, and he surprised the audience by bringing out his “Fast X” co-star Vin Diesel.

Walking onstage to cheers from the crowd, Diesel said, “When we were making the first ‘Fast and Furious’, we were listening to Ludacris on set.”

He continued, “I came here, obviously, because I’ve got the best brother in the world, which is Ludacris.”

The rapper then said that Diesel had specifically chosen to make the surprise appearance in Toronto.

“I’m only coming to Toronto,” Diesel proclaimed, “because I love Toronto.”

It’s Time for Mia to Leave the Fast & Furious Franchise https://citiymovies.com/archives/2490/news/ Wed, 24 May 2023 08:55:11 +0000 https://citiymovies.com/?p=2490 Jordana Brewster’s beloved Fast & Furious character Mia Toretto’s storyline has run its course.

Jordana Brewster’s Mia Toretto is a crucial figure in the Fast & Furious franchise. As one of the few characters from the 2001 original film who still appears in the latest installments viewers have seen her grow and develop over the course of more than 20 years, she is a reminder of how far the franchise has come. However, her appearance in Fast X, unfortunately, highlights that the time has come for the character to be written out of the series for the sake of both her story and that of her partner, the late Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner.

Mia’s History in the Fast & Furious Franchise

In The Fast and the Furious Mia is the first member of the Toretto found family to meet Brian, who makes himself a regular at the grocery store the family runs. As he ingratiates himself to the rest of the family he and Mia begin a romantic relationship. This leads to her being heartbroken when Brian reveals that he is an undercover police officer investigating to see whether or not Mia’s brother Dom (Vin Diesel) and his team were responsible for a string of daring highway robberies, which they were.

Mia was able to put her hurt feelings aside, however, and work with Brian to rescue Dom and company when their latest heist endangered their lives. She remained angry with Brian for five years and told him as much when they were reunited in 2009’s Fast and Furious. In that film Dom and Brian are forced to work together to take down a drug cartel they believe is responsible for the death of Dom’s lover Leticia “Letty” Ortiz (Michelle Rodriguez). As Brian works with Dom Mia begins to forgive him and eventually the pair resume their relationship.

Fast X’s Attempt To Honor Paul Walker Is Retroactively Ruining Brian O’Conner https://citiymovies.com/archives/2400/news/ Mon, 22 May 2023 22:35:25 +0000 https://citiymovies.com/?p=2400 While Dom may be the face of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, Brian O’Conner was its heart and soul. From the very first movie, Brian was our way into the world of racing: He was the protagonist we followed, the baby-faced hero who defied orders and chose family over duty, letting Dom escape in the movie’s final moments. When Vin Diesel refused to do a sequel, Brian was in the spotlight in “2 Fast 2 Furious,” which still holds up remarkably well without Diesel, especially compared to how these films hold up when Brian is absent.

Did Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Really Just Set Up That Groot Storyline?
Even when the whole family reunited in “Fast Five” and we got more characters than ever, Brian continued to be an essential part of the team, serving as a counterpart to Dom. He was the former cop who knew how to catch criminals, and who kept the franchise grounded while Dom slowly became a borderline superhuman comic book character.

Tragedy struck when Paul Walker died halfway through filming “Furious 7.” That film handled his departure beautifully and resonated so much with audiences that it is still the highest-grossing movie in the franchise, but since then, we’ve got diminishing returns.

It is undeniable that the movies lost something significant and essential with Walker’s death, but “Fast X” is the straw that broke the camel’s back for the franchise being able to keep Brian alive and on the sidelines within the world of the story. At this point, that decision is actively hurting the character’s legacy.

Something’s missing

In “Fate of the Furious,” it became clear the franchise was not going to simply kill off the Brian character. Instead, the characters explain that, since Brian is a father, the rest of the team didn’t want to disturb him, keeping him on the sidelines. That was all well and good in that movie, the first film since Paul Walker’s death — after all, killing him off so close to Walker’s real-life accident wouldn’t have gone over well. But now it is clear that Brian’s absence from the narrative is an issue. It’s become a bug rather than a feature.

During “F9,” when Dom’s brother — who no one except Mia and Letty knew about — suddenly returned, where was Brian? He decided to just stay at home with the kids while Mia went on an adventure and left his brother and best friend alone. Roman would do that, sure. Tej, maybe. Not Brian. Within the world of the narrative, the two characters shared a kinship that would have easily led to Brian showing up for a moment like that.

Without Brian, Dom has lost his best friend, and now he’s like Bill without Ted. Worse yet, it is not just about what is lost, but about how that which remains is being tainted and getting worse.

An incomplete family

It makes no narrative sense for Brian to stay away from the action in “Fast X,” because compared to the previous movies, the plot is completely and unequivocally about the family as a whole being in danger. Sure, Brian missing the barbecue with Abuelita because he is watching the kids while his wife attends is weird but understandable. But once Dante starts targeting the family, marking them all as international criminals who are on the run, it is impossible Brian doesn’t find out. Worse yet, Dom asks not Brian, but Mia to take care of his son while he goes to Rio to face Dante. Why would they not just take little Brian to where Big Brian and his and Mia’s two kids are and protect them all together? Why would Mia go it alone?

When the family faced antagonists like Cipher in “The Fate of the Furious” or that weird Russian billionaire and Jakob in “F9,” it was more plausible for Brian not to find out what the others were doing. But in “Fast X,” he would have to be actively ignoring his family being in need of help if he doesn’t show up. If Brian is alive and just hiding out while his family dies around him, he just became the franchise’s biggest coward.

An impossible situation

The problem is that just killing Brian wouldn’t solve much, especially now. After all, the character wasn’t killed on-screen when Walker was alive, and the more time passes, the harder it is to justify Brian’s death. Having him die in “Fast X” during Dante’s attacks would certainly motivate Dom, but it would also betray the character and treat him as a plot device rather than a key member of the family. Besides, just having Brian die off-screen would be in poor taste given the real-life tragedy.

The other solution, killing him on-screen by first bringing Brian back using visual effects (even if they use his brother, who stood in as Brian in “Furious 7”), would be too ghoulish. The truth is there is no easy solution to the problem of Brian O’Conner, and the studio is damned if they do something and damned if they don’t. Yet, the more they wait to even address the problem, the bigger it becomes. The Fast Saga is entering its endgame, and there is no going back. Bringing Brian back without Paul Walker is unthinkable, for sure, but the longer the franchise just ignores Brian but still keeps him just slightly out of the picture, it tarnishes the memory of the character who helped build this team, this family, and this franchise.

In “Fast X,” Dante targets the family to torture and destroy Dom, but keeping Brian alive but unable to do anything to help his family means the franchise is destroying what made it special and beloved in the first place.

Kim Kardashian Admits She ‘Cries Herself To Sleep’ Over Parenting Challenges https://citiymovies.com/archives/2396/news/ Mon, 22 May 2023 20:09:11 +0000 https://citiymovies.com/?p=2396 Kim Kardashian is getting real about the challenges of parenting four children.

People shared an exclusive first look at an upcoming episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast, which sees Kardashian open up about life as a single mom to kids North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4.

“There are nights I cry myself to sleep. Like, holy sht, this f*king tornado in my house. Like, what just happened?” Kardashian, who shares the little ones with ex, Kanye West, says in the clip.

“You know, with all the moods and the personalities and sometimes they’re fighting, and you know, there’s no one there,” Kardashian adds. “Like, it’s [just] me to play a good police officer and bad cop.”

As for what she thought parenting would be like versus what it is now that she’s a mother of four, The Kardashians star tells Shetty, “Everyone says the days are long and the years are short, and that couldn’t be like a more true statement.”

The mornings are an especially busy time for Kardashian, who said she often doesn’t know what’s going on in those early AM hours.

“It’s like I always have to do one of my daughter’s hair — and it has to be perfect and it has to be a certain way — and then this one needs me to put his shoes on and they all need you. It’s like full crazy madness, cooking, running around. Like, it’s wild,” she says.

Even though her bustling household can be maddening at times, Kardashian called it “the best chaos.”

Kardashian continues, “So, like, when you’re in it, I mean, especially when they’re babies and you’re feeding… there’s the madness going on. It’s like full madness. It’s the best chaos though.”

RELATED: Fast and Furious 10

Parenting has also taught her the most about herself, with the SKIMS founder telling the podcast host that it can be tough having to play both the good and bad cop for her kids.

Kardashian and West settled their divorce in November 2022, and share joint custody of their children. In a September interview on Alo Yoga’s Mind Full podcast, West said that while he spends time with their children, Kardashian has them “80 percent of the time.”

Even though Kardashian herself has a big, famous family, there was nothing, she said, that could truly prepare her for the ups and downs of parenting.

“Parenting is really f**king hard. That’s the only way I can describe it,” she says. “It is the most rewarding job in the entire world. It is. There is nothing that can prepare you. … I don’t care how long you wait. I don’t care what you’re waiting for. You are never prepared.”

“But,” Kardashian continues, “you will figure it out, and it will make you so proud of yourself that you figured it out and that you got through the day.”

Jonathan Majors Spotted With Rumored Girlfriend Meagan Good Amid Abuse Allegations https://citiymovies.com/archives/2391/news/ Mon, 22 May 2023 19:28:29 +0000 https://citiymovies.com/?p=2391 Fanning the flames of romance rumors. Jonathan Majors seems to be spending more time with his rumored girlfriend, Meagan Good.

The embattled actor — who is currently facing allegations of domestic violence leveled by an ex-girlfriend back in March — was spotted getting close to the actress as they arrived at LAX on Saturday following a flight from New York City.

In photos obtained by TMZ, Majors, and Good appeared to get cozy, holding hands and leaning in close to one another as they walked on the tarmac to their waiting sedan after disembarking from the plane.

Both Majors and Well dressed incognito for the flight, with Majors rocking a black hoodie over a grey shirt and black sweat pants, while Good wore a maroon t-shirt and black leggings, as well as a dark beige ballcap.

The news of their pair’s rumored romance first broke last weekend, when the same outlet reported that they’ve gotten close over the course of the last several weekends and that the relationship is “fairly new.”

The outlet, citing eyewitnesses, reported they hit up the Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Los Angeles in early May to see a movie together. Shortly after the report, People confirmed the actors are seeing each other.

The relationship news comes just weeks after the woman who accused Majors of assault was granted a full temporary order of protection against the Marvel actor. The full restraining order comes after a limited order of protection was initially granted.

Majors’ attorney issued a statement to ET regarding the order, claiming, “This is standard in cases such as this, and we consented because Mr. Majors wants nothing to do with the woman” who is accusing him.

On March 25, ET confirmed that the Creed III actor was arraigned on three counts of assault in the third degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, three counts of attempted assault in the third degree, and one count of harassment in the second degree.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office claimed that Majors “struck, shoved, kicked and otherwise subjected another person to physical contact thereby causing physical injury to such person and to a family and household member of such person.”

The accuser claimed Majors struck her in the face with “an open hand,” leading to “substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear.” She also accused Majors of grabbing her hand, “causing swelling, bruising, and substantial pain to her finger.” Additionally, the accuser claimed Majors put his hand on her neck, “causing bruising and substantial pain.”

Majors has vehemently denied the accusations through his attorney, Priya Chaudhry, who previously told ET that “Jonathan Majors is innocent and has not abused anyone. We have provided irrefutable evidence to the District Attorney that the charges are false. We are confident that he will be fully exonerated.”

Vin Diesel Reveals Touching Reason He Won’t Confirm The Future Of The ‘Fast’ Franchise https://citiymovies.com/archives/2388/news/ Mon, 22 May 2023 18:59:42 +0000 https://citiymovies.com/?p=2388 Vin Diesel isn’t ready to call it quits officially just yet!

Diesel spoke with ET’s Matt Cohen on Saturday at the block party for Charlize Theron’s Africa Outreach project in Los Angeles, and he played coy when asked exactly how much more fuel the Fast and Furious franchise has in the tank.

While fans already know that the new Fast X isn’t the end of the road — as Diesel announced at this year’s CinemaCon that an 11th film is slated for release in 2025 — many are wondering just how many more installments could be expected.

For Diesel, this is a delicate subject — specifically because of how much love there is for the franchise as a whole.

“The last time I told my daughter [it] was the last one, all I saw was tears,” Diesel said with a small laugh. “So I gotta be really careful [about] who and what I say.”

One thing he’s not worried about is praising the franchise’s incredible and unexpectedly large ensemble cast, who came together to create a thrilling 10th installment in the series, which has been ongoing for more than 22 years.

“We have such a great cast,” Diesel marveled. “We lead with love. We try to create an environment where people can do their best work.”

“That’s all actors really want, is to feel as though they’re supported to create unique characters. Characters that last forever,” he added, “and you see that in this franchise.”

Fast X brings together many of the heroes and villains from the franchise’s storied history and pits them against a new, bigger threat with even crazier stunts. The latest installment takes the wild cast around the globe from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the streets of Tbilisi as they work to fight off foes, new and old, and keep the Fast family together.

The massive ensemble supporting Diesel includes Theron, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, John Cena, Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Helen Mirren, Rita Moreno, Jason Statham, Daniela Melchior, Scott Eastwood, Nathalie Emmanuel and Alan Ritchson, among many others.

Fast X is in theaters now.
